Meridian, Mississippi A lung cancer benefit barbecue will be taking place on Saturday, July 19th in one of the pavilions at Meridian's Highland Park.
The benefit honors Janie Ruth Nicholson, who passed away from lung cancer June 17th. Barbecue chicken plates will be served with potato salad and baked beans with free sweet tea. Each plate costs seven dollars. All the money raised will go to final expenses for the family and the Anderson Cancer Patient Benevolence Fund.
"If you have a family member who has cancer or you know anybody, friends, just come out and support it for this benefit because you never know what life may throw at you," said Brenda Conner, an organizer of the event.
The benefit runs from 9 a.m. until on July 19th.
