Meridian, Miss. People lined the streets of Meridian on Sunday night to march in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The march started at the intersection of 16th Street and 31st Avenue. It continued for several blocks until it reached Union Baptist Church. Organizers say the walk represents peace and unity, which is what Dr. King stood for.

"We do this to promote unity, promote peace, and harmony amongst all men," Rev. Ecclesiastes Goodwin explains. "Not just blacks, but all men, which is what Dr. King stood for. So we're out here tonight preparing for the march, which is what Dr. King did as a symbol of peace and unity."

The march is sponsored by the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance.
