Car Club Holds Basketball Tournament

The Independent Riderz car club held a basketball tournament in Ben Arthur Davis Park in Meridian this afternoon.

The club promotes activities like basketball and softball to keep kids off the street, and to prevent crime. They want to show the kids that hard work pays off. Cotina Warren with the club says that they have been planning this tournament for a while and hope to hold more events like it.

"It was something the Independent Riderz, we had got together, we decided to do something positive for the community, and it's something to keep the kids off the streets, to have something to do everyday, and it's just something we got going on now."

The Independent Riderz also put on canned food drives and plan to work with Love's Kitchen.
