Carjacking Investigation Continues

Lauderdale County, Miss. Lauderdale County authorities say they have new leads from a burglary and armed carjacking that happened Monday.

Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun says a woman was shot at and had her car stolen from her in her own driveway. The car was recovered on Highway 19 when a witness called in a suspicious vehicle driving too fast.

Calhoun says the victim was unarmed during this incident, but he suggests carrying a weapon to protect yourself from situations like this.

"I recommend people be properly armed and trained, and if they are, they can defend themselves," said Calhoun. "They don't have to wait for us to show up."

The sheriff's department says it has received numerous tips on this case through Crimestoppers at 855-485-8477.

Investigators are still looking for more information on the four suspects involved, three black males and one white female with blonde hair.
