Lauderdale County, Miss. This is National Tourism Week and local officials gathered Thursday to celebrate all that this area has to offer travelers.
A special event was held at the Lauderdale County Welcome Center in Toomsuba.
City and county officials were on hand to recognize this week in Meridian as Tourism Week.
Officials at the welcome center say this is a great way to let tourists now what this area has to offer.
"We've served 90,000 people in Lauderdale County this year and that's just a lot of information passed along, a good way to get the word out about what's going on in our area," said Sandra Chambers, director pf the welcome center.
Chambers says people who stop at the welcome center are most impressed by things like the music industry and the natural beauty of the state.
