NTTC Change of Command at NAS Meridian

NAS Meridian, Miss The Naval Technical Training Center Meridian had a change of command Friday afternoon. Commander Brett St. George has received his new orders and was relieved by Commander Robert Stockton. Under St.George's command the school saw a drop in student attrition and an increase in grade point averages. St. George says that leaving the Meridian community behind will be difficult.

"It’s mixed feelings. I look back with the success the last couple of years but you sort of feel like the command has become a part of who you are," said St. George. "I'll tell you, it's not just the command, it's the Meridian community. I have really enjoyed being here. I have never been to a place that has been more supportive of the military family and how we've been brought into the community. It's going to be a place I dearly miss."

Stockton says that he has big shoes to fill but knows that he's being left the best staff for the job. Stockton also says that Meridian already has a different feel than anywhere else he has been.

"I will tell you, it absolutely is great," said Stockton. "Never in my 24 years and my 18 something duty stations have I been so welcomed by a community, in every aspect, from the leadership down to the individual people of Meridian."

St. George's next assignment is in Millington, Tenn., where he will be matching officers with their new assignments.
