Meridian, Miss. Meridian police say a shooting suspect who had turned himself in has now been released and the charge dropped.
Police had made an appeal to Williams to surrender and he did so Wednesday night.
He had been accused of attempted murder in connection with a shooting that happened Apr. 18 on Manning Street.
The person wounded in the shooting is now in a Jackson hospital and is paralyzed.
Police say that person told authorities that Williams acted in self-defense, after the person tried to rob Williams.
Detective Dareall Thompson says the case will be presented to a grand jury.
