Charges Against 6 People Dismissed in W. Gardens Shooting

Meridian, Miss. All charges have been dismissed against six of the seven suspects in a June 18 shooting at Meridian's Western Gardens.

Municipal Judge Beauchamp Jones dismissed charges of aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied dwelling at the preliminary hearings, due to lack of probable cause.

The only person still in jail on those charges is 18-year old Tamarcus Smith of Meridian.

Also, Newscenter 11 has learned Jones, as of Sunday night, is no longer a Meridian municipal court judge. He was not retained by the Bland administration.
