The Meridian Parks and Recreation Department partnered with Subway to encourage kids to exercise and eat healthy meals. It's called Triple Play.
Students walked from the Boys and Girls Club to Highland Park. Once they got to the park, they performed several different exercise routines.
After they finished exercising, the young people got to eat a healthy meal provided by Subway.
Organizers say they hope this event will help get kids to start eating healthy, thinking healthy, and being healthy.
"Make sure that your kids keep eating healthy and have a good meal," said parks and recreation director Kelvin McGruder. "You know we are getting ready to go back to school, so they need to start eating healthy and thinking about eating healthy so they can be good in the classroom and on their test scores."
Organizers say the hope this event will help the kids develop good eating habits as they get older.
