Efforts are being made to help parents better understand a new curriculum that has been adopted for all public schools in Mississippi.
An informational symposium will be held tomorrow at Friendship Baptist Church in Collinsville to address this issue. It will involve a panel of expert educators who will talk about the new curriculum. Plus, they will answer questions.
"I've been in education for over 20 years, and it has changed dramatically this time," says Principal Sherrod Miller, who is one of the organizers. "It's very, very important that our parents understand that the Common Core standards, and the expectations that the students are going to have and what teachers have to teach, and all of those things that come with Common Core. We'll have that information for them."
Saturday's information symposium will start at 10 a.m. and end at noon.
