The city of Meridian is suing former police captain, Dean Harper.
Meridian City Council president, Dr. George Thomas, said the members voted unanimously Tuesday night to approve the counter-suit.
Thomas says Harper is accused by former police chief, James Lee, of turning in false time cards and accepting payment. Harper is being asked to repay roughly $6,000.
In January, Harper filed a federal lawsuit against the city claiming his civil rights were violated.
