Lauderdale County, Miss. The East Mississippi Drug Task Force has taken another hit on its funding. It's getting less money this year from the federal government than in years past.

The Lauderdale County board of supervisors Monday transferred $75,000 to the task force budget.

A federal grant was approved but is roughly half of what it was in 2013 and comes at a time when budgeting is tight and money is scarce.

Lauderdale County Sheriff Billy Sollie said he hopes that next year, more money would be allocated for the force.

"We hope that next year, the federal government sends money down to the states which would allow the state to redistribute that money back to us," said Sollie. "We do not believe we will ever be where we were."

Despite the funding decrease, the task force is still working county-wide but is down to five agents from eleven that it had at the beginning of 2013.
