Meridian, Miss. The annual Dancing Like the Stars competition is just a few days away, Friday, Dec. 6, at the Frank Cochran Center. Our own Louis Montesi and Tiffany Harper, and Newscenter 11's Deana Day and Chip Scarborough have been rehearsing for weeks to be ready.
City Councilman Dustin Markham is also participating, as well as Cat Owen from WMOX radio.
"Ticket sales are going well, but we can stand to sell some more," said Mary Atterberry, executive assistant at MCCSA. "You can still get tickets by calling the office, or by contacting one of the dancers. It will be a fun-filled night of entertainment, a full-course meal. We will also have refreshments. It's just a lot of fun, and family entertainment, with limited seating."
Of course, it is all for a good cause. MCCSA hopes to move into its new building at the start of the new year.
"This fundraiser goes towards MCCSA building fund. We are 95 percent complete with our new building," Atterberry said. "We are anticipating moving in Jan. 1, so all funds raised for this event will go towards that."
Atterberry says it's the perfect way to start the holiday season. She invites everyone to get a ticket and come out for a great show.
"I invite the entire community and the surrounding counties to come out and let this start your Christmas holiday season by coming out and seeing all the Mississippi stars," she said.
Tickets are $50 per person and include a gourmet dinner. To purchase tickets, you can call Mary Atterberry at 601-938-2773.
