Lauderdale County, Mississippi Lauderdale County deputies wrote two dozen tickets Thursday afternoon during a roadside safety checkpoint.
Sheriff Billy Sollie said these citations were for things like expired car tags and other traffic violations. Sollie reminds residents it's important while driving to be following guidelines at all times.
"Absolutely, the roadside safety checkpoints have been deemed constitutional by the Supreme Court," said Sollie. "The momentary inconvenience of being stopped and asked for your drivers license, and allowing law enforcement to check your tag has been ruled constitutional."
Sheriff Sollie says 23 of the traffic citations issued were for expired tags, and one for a separate matter. Sollie says local drivers should expect more checkpoints in the future.
