Dozens of Parents and Their Children With No Place to Live Tonight

Meridian Dozens of families and children have no place to lay their heads tonight, after a hoped for homeless shelter was unable to open today.
The People's Charity Clinic of Meridian had hoped to open that shelter in the old Long's Wholesale building on Front Street this evening. They'd been housing several dozen homeless families in hotels, but the money had run out. The clinic had everything ready to open the shelter this evening, but could not get approval from city officials. The group showed up en masse on the lawn of city hall late this afternoon to protest.
