Meridian, Miss. Officials say a Meridian patrol officer made a felony arrest Monday after spotting a guy speeding.
Capt. Dean Harper said an officer attempted to stop someone speeding near the airport but the driver refused to stop.
That led to a chase that eventually ended on 5th Street, where Harper says the driver tried to get away on foot.
"However, he was apprehended by members of the DART team who were in the area at the same time," said Harper. "He has been charged or will be charged with felony eluding and also felony possession of narcotics."
A canine unit was involved in searching the car the suspect was driving.
The name of the person driving the vehicle is not being released until the charges are finalized.
