Driver Wrecks in Okatibbee Lake

Collinsville, Miss. A vehicle ended up in Okatibbee Lake Wednesday afternoon.

It happened a little after 1 p.m. near Center Hill Martin Road. The car went off an access road and into the shallow water. The driver was alone and was able to get out on his own.

Deputies on the scene were not immediately sure how the crash happened.

"When I arrived, I noticed the car was off the side of Gin Creek on the rocks," said Sgt. Tony McMahan of the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department. "The guy was sitting on the rocks; he had already exited the vehicle."

The man who drove off into the lake was treated on the scene and released. The car was pulled out of the water by a wrecker.
