Decatur, Miss. East Central Community College in Decatur is hosting a traveling exhibit from the Smithsonian.
The grand opening for The Way We Worked was held Monday afternoon at the Gold Room of Mabry Cafeteria on campus.
The exhibit uses historical photos from the National Archives to chronicle how work has been a central element in American culture over the past 150 years.
The Way We Worked is made possible through a partnership with the Mississippi Humanities Council.
"We're very pleased and honored to be able to partner with them to bring this exhibition here," said ECCC president, Dr. Billy Stewart. "And we're reaching out and trying to meet the needs. This is really a basis of what we found out in the 2020 Vision strategic planning process we went through here at East Central. We want to meet the needs of our local community and this is just one way to do it."
The traveling exhibit is touring six Mississippi communities. It was featured last fall at Meridian's Industrial Heritage Museum. It will be available for viewing at East Central weekdays, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., except for spring break, Mar. 8-16.
