Students and faculty and staff of East Mississippi Community College stuck with a 3-month weight loss program so that others could have something to eat.
EMCC and its food service provider, Sodexo, delivered food to LOVE's Kitchen Thursday.
Sodexo agreed to donate a half-pound of food for every pound lost by those who committed to lose weight this semester.
The staff winner lost almost 47 pounds. The student winner lost almost thirty-five. But LOVE's kitchen is the biggest winner.
"We also had a No Kid Hungry campaign that went along with Sodexo, which is nationwide if not worldwide," said EMCC event coordinator Kate McCarty. "And we sold dollar squares and the money we raised for that also came here to LOVE's Kitchen."
During the course of the 13-week weight loss contest, participants shed over 365 pounds. But Sodexo went above its obligation and donated an even 200 pounds of food.
