East Mississippi Community College is training students in all kinds of careers, Including those at the lignite plant.
EMCC has created classes just to train students for job positions at the plant.
Officials say the training will not only benefit the students in class but will help give them opportunities in other aspects of the construction industry.
"Dr. Young was very interested in making sure that our campus was focused on workforce development, particularly because of the big plant that was being built in Kemper County," said Bruce Hanson of EMCC's workforce services. "So we created some welding classes and some construction skills classes."
Students from EMCC helped with form work and the pouring of concrete at the lignite plant.
