Meridian, Miss. East Mississippi State Hospital hosted a dedication ceremony Thursday for a new dietary facility and a groundbreaking for a new receiving unit.
The dietary center will be used for food services for the patients and staff. It replaces an older and smaller facility.
The new receiving unit that will be used to help treat patients.
"We think because of these facilities being built, Joint Commission accredited, that East Mississippi, we hope, will be here another 100 years," said board member Rick Barry. "And a lot of this comes because of the help of our folks in the legislature."
In the second phase, another new receiving unit will be built. EMSH also decommissioned three buildings on the campus.
