An emergency room nurse came to Calvary Christian School Monday to share a message about the consequences of using illegal drugs and underage drinking.
Linda Dutil travels the country to spread her message to teenagers. She doesn't lecture or give statistics. Instead she shares with them what happens when they make poor choices and end up in the emergency room.
"When a presenter comes into a school, you never know what is going to make a lasting effect," Dutil said. "So sometimes I'll have teenagers say, 'oh, I don't want to do that to my family. You know I don't want a tragedy to happen'. So it's that heartfelt part. Then sometimes they'll say, 'oh I don't want those tubes or charcoal in my body, so you never know what's going to make an effect."
Dutil says teenagers have the power to make good choices, and no one can take that away from them.
