Early Week Winter Weather Possible

As we prepare to face another arctic blast, we also could see wintry precipitation with a developing low pressure center in the Gulf of Mexico Tuesday.

Timing and specifics are still being ironed out, and so that I do not step on the toes of Will who will be updating your forecast this evening, I will refrain from going into too much detail here.

As of now, models have greatly increased in confidence and forecast in snow for central and southern Mississippi and Alabama. The best chance for snow at this moment will be south of Highway 84 with locations from Hattiesburg southward potentially seeing a few inches of snow. Models are disagreeing on how far north the snow will make it, so we could see anything from nothing to a few flakes to a few inches.

I want to make sure I stress this forecast is highly evolving. Models have been trying to get a handle on this situation for days, and as they adjust, the forecast may swing wildly. We also could see freezing rain or sleet instead of or with snow, so the forecast is far from certain.
