Meridian, Miss. Earth's Bounty brought in a huge crowd to Singing Brakeman Park Saturday morning.

Maureen Lofton, the chairman for the festival, says organizers were not certain how many people would participate the day after July 4. But with beautiful weather and plenty of fresh produce, there was no shortage of customers. Lofton says Earth's Bounty is continually successful at bringing friends and families together.

"I would ask people, what's your favorite thing? And I expected answers like the produce, the fabulous cakes and pies, but what I hear most often is that it's a family event. It's a community event, and it brings everyone in the community together and that's what makes it really, really special," she says.

The farmer's market is open every Saturday, and Earth's Bounty opens on the first Saturday of every month.
