Kemper County, Miss. An inmate escaped Wednesday about 3:45 p.m from the Kemper-Neshoba Regional Correctional Facility, but was apprehended before 6 p.m. the same day.
Officials say 24-year-old Christopher Ryan Mardis, who was considered armed and dangerous, was located in the woods behind the prison.
Kemper County Sheriff James Moore said Mardis escaped from a recreational yard, gaining access to the roof and then jumping to the ground.
He was being held in Kemper County for charges in Lauderdale County. The latest was probation violation with past charges of robbery and shoplifting. Now Mardis faces an escape charge.
