Feds Approve ExpressJet for Meridian

Meridian, Miss.

The U.S. Dept. of Transportation has approved a proposal to provide air service at Meridian Regional Airport.

City officials chose ExpressJet as the city's air provider earlier this year, but were waiting on approval from the federal government.

The service could begin by November.

It will provide service from Meridian to Hattiesburg and then to Dallas-Fort Worth.

The new service is needed after Silver Airways announced earlier this year that it is leaving Meridian.
