Former Mississippi Lawmaker Dies

Former Mississippi state representative, Jerry E. Wilkerson, who served three terms in the House, has died at the age of 68.

Officials with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in Meridian say Wilkerson died at his home in Daleville Wednesday. The cause of death was not released.

Services were held Friday at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Daleville Community Cemetery.

Wilkerson served as executive director of Petroleum Marketers Association, the Convenience Store Association and the Propane Gas Association for 25 years.

He was a former teacher and headmaster for Whynot and Kemper Academy. He was a farmer and cattleman.

Survivors include two children, two step-children, four grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
