Authorities have charged a former accountant at Mississippi University for Women with embezzlement.

Jeannie Godbey, 46, of Starkville, turned herself in to the Lowndes County Sheriff's Department Wednesday. She has been released on $5,000 bond and waived an initial appearance in justice
court.

Her trial has been scheduled for Nov. 13 in Lowndes County Circuit Court.

Authorities say Godbey was an accountant for the MUW Foundation from November 2009 to April 2012, when she was dismissed amid an
investigation of about $30,000 in missing money.

The MUW Foundation is the fundraising arm of the university, raising funds to supplement money MUW receives from the state, student tuition and other sources.
