Lauderdale County, Miss.
Four prison workers are recovering after being stabbed Tuesday at East Mississippi Correctional Facility.
Lauderdale County Sheriff Billy Sollie says it happened about 9 a.m.
Sollie says the workers were attempting to move an inmate from one part of the prison to another when the inmate stabbed the guards.
Two of the employees were taken to a local hospital and the other two were treated on the scene.
"When you have people who are confined, who have evil thoughts and intentions on their minds, this often times leads to officers being injured, as well as other members of the staff," said Sollie.
Sollie says no formal charges have been filed at this time. He says the inmate will likely face felony assault charges.
