Meridian, Miss. A local agency stepped in Wednesday to help feed the hungry and address some of their health needs.
Greater Meridian Health Clinic observed National Health Center Week by providing grilled hamburgers and hot dogs and ice cream to people at LOVE's Kitchen.
Greater Meridian had staff on hand to conduct health screenings like blood pressure checks and glucose testing, in addition to the meal.
"This community does not want people to be hungry. This is a very loving, caring and giving community," said LOVE's Kitchen director Fannie Johnson. "And they make sure we have every thing we need to make sure everybody who walks through that door gets a good meal and a smile and knows that they're loved."
GMHC CEO Wilbert Jones says the clinic is available to assist those served by LOVE's Kitchen with their health care needs.
LOVE's Kitchen serves 200 to 250 people daily at lunch time.
