A pair of Mississippi game wardens rescued an 11-year-old boy from a near-drowning in Columbus on Memorial Day.
One of the game wardens is Marc McCleskey, who grew up in Kemper County.
McCleskey and another game warden, Travis McDonald were walking near the Riverwalk in Columbus when someone reported the youth had disappeared under water.
McCleskey jumped in and after three dives was able to locate the boy. Both men administered CPR. The 11-year-old is recovering at a Jackson hospital.
