Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant was on hand at the Temple Theater tonight for the first Mississippi Jamboree.
His brother, Larry, is in the Pearl River band which is putting on a Grand Ole Opry styled show. The show featured favorite country hits, as well as celebrity impersonators for Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Patsy Cline. The governor told us he was glad to be there to support his brother.
"We're bringing it to Meridian, Mississippi to make sure we keep the concept, the idea of Jimmie Rodgers, to make sure folks can come and listen to some old time country music."
The Mississippi Jamboree will now be held on the first Saturday of each month at the Temple Theater.
