The Speaker of the Mississippi House of Representatives spoke to the Meridian Rotary Club Wednesday. The election was one of the things on his mind.
State Rep. Philip Gunn, a Republican from Clinton, said he was disappointed by the outcome.
"We were hoping that Romney would prevail but the results are what they are," said Gunn. "I think it's time for Americans to pull together and try to move forward. We've got a lot of serious issues in the country regarding economy, first and foremost, and I think we got to pull together and try to figure out a way to get our economy back on track."
Gunn was elected House Speaker in January, after Republicans took control of the chamber for the first time in more than a century.
