Hood Keeping Eye on Price-Gouging

Attorney General Jim Hood says he hasn't yet asked the governor's office to invoke anti-price gouging provisions of a state of emergency.

But Hood says he will do so if the number of price-gouging complaints rise. He says his office has received some complaints.

Hood says Gov. Phil Bryant's state of emergency declaration did not automatically put the state's price gouging prohibitions into effect. Hood says it will remain inactive until Bryant specifically authorizes it.

Hood says he cautions people not to take advantage of people fleeing Isaac.

Hood says most price-gouging complaints involved hotel and gasoline prices.
