Household Hazardous Waste Day Set for Saturday

It's spring time in Meridian which means it's time for the spring edition of Household Hazardous Waste Day.

Residents of Meridian can drop off those items that should not go in their normal trash, such as old paint, tires, pesticides, and used diabetic needles.

This spring, waste contract compliance officer, Odell Hopkins, says a third collection site has been added to help residents of the city.

"We are trying to make it convenient for citizens, put them in neighborhoods where they can get there quicker, get in and out, that they don't have to travel so far," said Hopkins. "And it's an opportunity to clean up your neighborhood. Not only a household hazardous waste but it's a clean up opportunity."

You may bring your items Saturday, May 3, to any of the three locations: Magnolia Middle School, Family Bowl Lanes, and the Meridian Public Works Complex. People will be there to help you unload.
