Over 30 of this area's best musical performers were at the temple theatre today to compete in the 2014 Jimmie Rodgers Talent Competition.
Performers up to 14-years-old competed in the youth competition, and those older qualified for the adult competition. The artists performed in both gospel and country categories. The talent competition has been part of the Jimmie Rodgers festival for decades and president of the foundation, Betty Lou Jones, says the talent is never lacking.
"Jimmie Rodgers talent winners have gone on to have good careers. Elvis Presley was a talent winner - well, he was a contestant - he didn't win. Faith Hill was talent contestant. She didn't win," she says.
The winners of each category will get to perform on stage during a concert with this year's chosen artists for the Jimmie Rodgers Festival.
