A Jones County man barricaded himself inside his home Thursday morning and allegedly held police at bay with a gun until negotiators were able to convince him to surrender.
WDAM reported authorities responded to call about a domestic dispute at the home of 38-year-old Carl Smith on Earl Brashier Road at about 6 a.m.
Deputies say Smith refused to allow them inside the house and brandished a handgun.
Negotiators were called in and Smith surrendered about three hours later.
Authorities say he was booked with aggravated assault.
It was not immediately clear whether Smith has an attorney.
