Jackson, Miss.
The Mississippi Attorney General's Office says Laderrick Rencher of Meridian pleaded guilty to intentionally and illegally exposing a vulnerable adult to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The case was investigated by the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit and prosecuted by the A.G.'s office.

Rencher, 37, was sentenced to serve 10 years in prison, the maximum sentence allowed for one count of knowingly exposing another person to HIV.

Officials say the crime was committed Jan. 25, 2012, when the victim and Rencher were both patients at Alliance Health Center in Meridian.

Rencher pleaded guilty to the charge May 20.

Officials say Rencher was then released on bond pending sentencing, and the next day was picked up by law enforcement on a charge of strong armed robbery.
