Meridian, Miss. A standout member of the community was honored Saturday night for her many years of dedication.
Love's Kitchen Director Fannie Johnson received an award from The Knights of Columbus. Johnson received the Monsignor John J. Burns Award. It's given annually to an outstanding volunteer in our area. Johnson says she is thankful for the honor and loves to give back to the community.
"I don't really know how to explain it," Johnson says. "It just feels good making somebody smile and know that I make a difference in somebody's life everyday. It's a full time job that doesn't really feel like a job. When I first took the job at Love's Kitchen, that's one that I said. If I could do this for free, if there's any job I can do without getting paid, helping people would be that job."
Johnson says she is honored that the community believes in Love's Kitchen.
