Meridian, Miss. Firefighters are crediting a quick-thinking truck driver for the lack of injuries in a late night fire on the Interstate.
The driver of the 18-wheeler carrying a load of fruit from Texas to New York believes faulty brakes caused the fire. It happened on I-59 Northbound, near exit 146 at about 11:00 p.m. Wednesday.
The driver says when he saw sparks, he quickly pulled to the side, and disconnected the truck from it's trailer to get away from the diesel fuel in the front of the trailer. The South Volunteer Fire Department quickly responded and got the fire under control. Traffic was only tied up for a short time. The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating.
