Meridian, Mississippi The Lauderdale County School District honored its faculty and staff who are retiring with a celebration Tuesday.

The 36 people who are retiring have a combined 850 years of experience working for the school district. Superintendent Randy Hodges says they will be sorely missed.

"Experience can't be replaced, but we just wanted to let them know they did their job, our students gained from it, and our community will benefit from it," said Hodges.

Each of the retiring employees was presented with a plaque to honor their years of service.
