Deputies say they have released a person of interest that they'd originally taken into custody after a deadly shooting in Lauderdale County Friday afternoon.
Investigators say Jason Moulds, 32, of Toomsuba, died in the shooting that happened around 4 p.m. outside Williams Grocery, off Highway 11/80 in the Russell community.
Moulds and the shooter apparently exchanged gunfire and Moulds was shot in the chest. He died at a local hospital a short time later.
Investigators aren't saying why they released the person they had detained, but Sheriff Billy Sollie says that an arrest is not imminent in the case.
Evidence will be submitted to the next Lauderdale County grand jury.
