Members of the Leadership Lauderdale program gathered on Saturday to give a helping hand.
Leadership Lauderdale says it chose Lauderdale County's Habitat for Humanity as its service project in order to familiarize themselves with Habitat. Participants say it was interesting to learn that Habitat homeowners simply don't receive their homes for free as they are required to assist with building efforts.
"We all end up benefitting from it," Gayle Alsobrooks says. "It builds morale within our community. It helps us bridge gaps and make connections that we would not have made other ways."
Leadership Lauderdale is a community development program sponsored by the EMBDC, the Montgomery Institute, and the First Mississippi Federal Credit Union.
