Library Helps Kids Celebrate July 4th

Meridian, Miss. The Meridian-Lauderdale County Public Library hosted a 4th of July craft storytime Tuesday.

The children were read two books about the 4th of July and then they participated in an arts and craft session. They made an Uncle Sam decoration.

The event was open to the public and was geared toward getting the kids excited about the holiday.

"I like to encourage the kids to learn about the holidays and celebrate them and I like the library to be a part of that," said children's librarian, Abbie Woolridge. "I like to share books that celebrate the holidays and I think the kids enjoy making decorations that have to do with the holidays and it gets them in the spirit and makes the library an enjoyable place to be."

The library will be closed July 4-5, because of the July Fourth holiday.
