Local Dance Instructor Celebrating 60 Years of Teaching Children

Meridian, Mississippi One local dance instructor is celebrating 60 years of teaching kids how to dance.

Pat Gray of the Pat Gray Academy of Dance, Gymnastics, and Cheer started teaching children in 1954 in Meridian at the bottom of a house with her mother. The business continues to be a family affair with her two daughters and granddaughter all teaching with her. She says she has been doing this so long because of her love of dance and children.

"I have studied every year since I was 12 to progress our learning techniques for the children, and we go out of town. We study in New York, California, Miami, everywhere there is a good teacher, we study, and we bring it back to Meridian," said Gray, the owner and director.

The city of Meridian will give a proclamation for Pat Gray at Tuesday's Meridian City Council meeting.
