Meridian and Lauderdale County leaders are turning to prayer to guide their administrations.

Meridian Mayor Percy Bland hosted a prayer breakfast this morning as part of reconciliation week. The room was filled with officials and community members. Speakers from Mission Mississippi talked about the importance of prayer in healing our area. Reverend Neddie Winters says we could make a big difference if more people would learn to pray, rather than criticize.

"When God directs our leaders, then we can go about living the kind of life he's called us to live," he says. "In fact, he says if we pray for our leaders, we can live peaceful and tranquil lives."

Speakers prayed for the Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors, the Meridian City Council and Mayor Bland.
