Lauderdale County, Miss. A local man is set to be one of only eleven in the state to receive the French Legion of Honor award this week.
89-year old Edsol Wells of Lauderdale was notified this summer that he will receive France's highest military honor. The French Legion of Honor is given to Americans for bravery and liberating France during World War II. Wells served in the Air Force in a bombing squad. He will be recognized Tuesday at the old capitol museum in Jackson, but he says it is bittersweet because of all of the americans who lost their lives.
Join Newscenter 11's Deana Day at 6 and 10 p.m. on Monday as Wells reflects on that traumatic time 70 years ago.
