Meridian, Miss. Local veterans are preparing to host riders on their way to Washington D.C. for the 26th annual Run for the Wall.
May 19th will be the 14th year Meridian will host the riders overnight. Veterans are riding to Washington to lobby for those who are still missing in action. It will be a time that local veterans and residents can show up and support the veterans on their way from California to Washington. Riders will be at the Lauderdale County Ag Center.
"We want people to come up about 5:30 or 6:00 meet and great the riders, they love talking to the local veterans, the local people and telling their story, and hearing stories from the veterans here," Jim Swartz says.
Local military are encouraged to line the 49th Avenue bridge, and Meridianites to line up on the 29th Avenue bridge. They should start lining up at 4:30 that afternoon. If you would like to help support the riders, you can call 601-938-0392.
