Awards were handed out to American Cancer Society volunteers from our area at Merrehope.
Winners included Cindy Kane for special event of the year. Kane is the organizer of the Queen City Race for Life.
Linda Todd won the Research Recognition award for a cancer prevention study and Sandy Green received the Teresa Lasser National Memorial Award.
"I was very humbled and very honored," Kane says. "I was not expecting this at all and it means a lot to me."
"I am a 6 year breast cancer survivor and the American Cancer Society was wonderful to me," Green says. "The volunteers were so good to me and helped me through my journey and I just wanted to be a part of it."
WTOK-TV was honored with the Lighthouse Media award for 2010-2011.
