Locals Support "Art for Archer"

Updated: Sat 11:57 PM, Oct 20, 2012

Locals came out in big numbers to support a fundraiser for a local child facing a rare genetic disorder.

The first ever "Art for Archer" was held in Dumont Plaza on Saturday afternoon. There were demonstrations and arts and crafts for kids, all to fund research for a disorder that Archer Maple has called Peroxisomal Biogenesis Disorder, which causes hearing loss and muscle loss among other things. Archer's mother says she is appreciative of all of the support.

"It has greatly encouraged my heart," Ashley Maple says. "And has given me so much hope and seeing change and improvement for children with PBD. And just knowing that strangers want to help, strangers care and my friends care."

Maple says the prognosis for the disorder is devastating.
